The 3 Different Types of Rooms to Clean at Home
At The Tidy People, there are different processes that we follow for different types of rooms. While all 3 of these rooms interchangeably use some of the same products, there are different approaches to clean each room type. Different rooms need different methods due to specific appliances and uses of that room.
Whole-house cleaning might seem overwhelming when itโs approached as one big task. Instead, try breaking the cleaning down into the different room types. Regardless of whether you clean your home in one session or if you break it up into a series of days (or time blocks), this can make whole-home cleaning more manageable.
Is this you? โ
โI feel like Iโm always cleaning, but my home never feels cleanโ
Itโs far more effective to clean one room really well vs. half cleaning a room or half cleaning an entire home. Itโs much easier for surfaces to get skipped over on an on-going basis when rooms are partially cleaned.
Instead, try cleaning a room top-to-bottom in its entirety and then maintain it moving forward. Depending on how long its been since youโve last โdeep cleanedโ, it might be a larger task up front. Thankfully, once youโve gotten the deeper cleaning done, itโs much easier to maintain on a regular basis.
When cleaning a room in its entirety, itโs not that you need to scrub every surface clean, but rather, scan and scale a space. Itโs about working methodically. Slowing down isnโt about working โslowlyโ, but methodical cleaning is a practice of intentionality.
Imagine that youโre a home inspector and youโre working your way around a home, checking each and every area carefully. As you dust or as you scrub, youโre checking with your eyes and youโre checking with touch. This may be an intuitive approach, but ask yourself โ does it FEEL clean? Assess that as you move throughout your space, in detail.
Kitchen
Kitchens are called a โwet roomโ in professional cleaning because itโs a room that has running water AND uses a lot more water than other rooms do. Itโs considered the heart of the home, or a communal shared space.
Itโs common for cleaning to be a higher priority in the kitchen over any other room in the house due to it being high traffic, high usage space. Here are some additional resources that you might find useful for cleaning this type of room:

Dry Rooms
Dry rooms are basically every other room in the house thatโs not a kitchen or a bathroom. This might include, but is not limited to: living room, dining room, bedrooms, and offices. Even though a laundry room or a garage might have a sink in it, itโs common for this room to get categorized into a dry room as the water usage in this room is minimal (or contained to an appliance).
