Keep Your Car Clutter Free with This One Rule
Often, cars are one of those missed and neglected spaces that get overlooked when it comes to cleaning. It’s not part of the home, but it is your home away from home when traveling to and fro. Depending on your lifestyle, your car might easily become a bottomless pit. A trash receptacle. It’s also a place where sweaters, purses, backpacks, books, and other miscellaneous items end up.
Everything Leaves the Car
There’s a rule that I practice that’s helped me greatly in keeping a tidy car. It’s the “everything comes out of the car rule” upon returning home.
If you make this a daily practice, it will only take 5 minutes maximum (if that) to throw away any trash or recycling, bring in sweaters, etc. Yes, this might end up in your entry area at home which can sometimes be another to-do. You’ll want to factor in the time to put items away in their rightful homes once you bring them in, too.
Now, while I have you here: here are some other tips on keeping a clean + tidy car…
Keep a Mini Trash Bin in Your Car
Trash will naturally accumulate in your car as you go through the Starbucks drive through, peel and eat an orange on the go, etc. A mini trash bin is the perfect solution to containing trash so that you don’t have to play “pick up sticks” every time you get out of the car.

Vacuum Dust and Debris on the Interior
Use a backpack vacuum or a high powered hand vac. You’ll need two attachments: (1) a soft bristled brush to vacuum dust off of the center console, cupholders, etc. and (2) a upholstery spin attachment to vacuum seats and floors.
Pair these two together for high powered vacuuming (you’ll just need access to an outlet):
