Why I Use a Duvet Cover for My Bed
Do you wish a magic fairy would swoop in and make your bed every d*mn day? I can’t make that happen (unless you hire a cleaning service), but I do promise that I have a tip that will cut down your bed making time significantly.
Ever heard of a duvet cover? It’s a fabric covering that your comforter / duvet goes inside of. I remember in my early years of cleaning houses, I had a weekly client who spent years abroad in Europe and swore by their duvet covers. They would have me change theirs weekly, alongside their fitted sheet. *fun fact* Duvets originated in rural Europe and were usually filled with the down feathers of ducks or geese. The best quality is taken from the eider duck, known for its effectiveness as a thermal insulator.
Ever since I’ve learned about this duvet cover hack, I’ve made my bed on the daily with great ease. I love coming home and falling into my neatly made bed at night. Here's how I make my bed in 1 minute or less everyday:
STEP 1: REMOVE PILLOWS+ TOP BLANKETS FROM THE BED
Really, this first step is clearing the area so you can make a tidy bed.
STEP 2: STRAIGHTEN THE DUVET EVENLY ON THE BED
This literally takes 30 seconds or less and is such an easy and quick bed making trick.
STEP 3: RETURN PILLOWS + BLANKETS TO THE BED & ARRANGE NICELY
That’s it. With not having to deal with a top sheet, daily bed making is made simple!
